Having just made it to this location with roughly 30 seconds to spare, I was quite surprised to see the barge and tug boat that would be temporarily "pacing" the CSXT P952-04 as the train rolled onto Iona Island. Timing was everything for this shot and emphasized how much EZ Pass does really 'save time'! Long story short for this photo - I had traveled from Kingston to Bear Mountain with knowledge of train travel time vs. highway time from the August 2 northbound run. Everything went well and was anticipating at least a 3-5 minute leaway for setup. Unfortunately I had forgotten the EZ Pass in the SUV (back in White River Jct.). When I arrived at the Bear Mtn. Bridge toll booth, there was a line of approximately 4 motorcycles and 8 cars. The EZ Pass Lane had a nice flow of traffic (pout). As the line of traffic painstakingly moved forward, the P95204 called the signal just to the north of the bridge. Panic time... Quickly handed the toll taker the correct change and shot out of the gate. An expeditious trip across the bridge and turn up the hill for the pulloff was made and as I jumped from the truck, the train's headend was just pulling under the bridge - just enough time to shoot up river (other shot I posted) and then run up the wall a bit to get this shot. It would be the final shot that I would take along the river of this train, but one well fought to achieve. Next time I'll bring the EZ Pass for sure!
