Remarks & Notes
The guard and trainee fireman (far right) gaze in wonderment at an engineering masterpiece named "Samson" which has paused with its train at Dungeness, the southern terminus on the 15-inch gauge Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. The fireman was taking part in a full-day, hands-on firing and driving course offered by the railway. Since the loco firebox is so small, firing and driving duties are carried out by one person.

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
Prototype for everything . . .

Do you ever get the feeling as a model railroader, that you just might be creating something not "prototypical?" Same here.
