| Dakota Southern's shops in Chamberlain looks nothing more than an old junk yard. The track on the right is their main line which leads to the massive bridge (behind me) over the Missouri River and several miles of storage cars on the other side. The rails are still in tact all the way to Kadoka hidden in the South Dakota prairie grass. To the east, their line extends about 70 miles to Mitchell and the BNSF connection. An engineer told me they currently have 5 active customers on the line and three operating locomotives. |
