49 of this most powerful japanese steamlocomotives were built from 1948 to 1949. This famous "Hudson" 4-6-4 locomotives have a 1750 mm driving wheel diameter and this particular C62 17 broke the speed record for a narrow-gauge steam locomotive on 15 December 1954 when it reached 129 km/h (80 mph) on the Tokaido mainline. It is displayed in the SCMaglev and Railway Park in Nagoya which openend on march 14, 2011. |
