Station stop: Flemington, NJ. Great Western #60's Fireman prepares to dismount as his train slows for a station stop at the old CNJ Depot in downtown Flemington, NJ. Actually, in this case, the Fireman wasn't dismounting to attend to his locomotive, nor did the Engineer really intend to stop here. It seems that as this shot unfolded, a non-railfan photographer up the line just a bit selected the middle of the track to stake a camera position to capture the run-by. Our train stopped suddenly and our Fireman dismounted to go and have a word with the gentleman.
Things have changed a bit here in Flemington since the steam era ended. As you may be able to tell from this photo, the old depot building is now a bank....the Unity Bank, to be exact....the white lines on the pavement in the foreground lead to drive-up teller positions just out of view to the left.
