With Santa Fe 3338 laying on its side, a Santa Fe eastbound crawls through a slow order past the site of the derailment just north of Highway 138 in Cajon Pass. Heavy rains cause track damage in the area, requiring work crews to repair the track. As crews were working in the early morning hours, Santa Fe 3279 East came around the corner and apparently hit a front-end loader, causing the derailment.
