Amtrak #6, the eastbound California Zephyr, is pictured here rolling alongside the last green fields it will see for many miles as it enters the barren eastern Utah desert. The train has been following the Price River ever since it left Soldier Summit about 45 miles ago. It is the Price River that makes that alfalfa field possible even though it would be called a creek, and a pretty small one at that, anywhere else.
