| The 13km Hex River Tunnel was never designed for steam traction, but crews on steam specials had determined it was possible to drift down from Kleinstraat to Salbar without the need for any electric assistance. Here, 15F 3098 in charge of an excursion from Matjiesfontein emerges into the afternoon light. Smoke was by pre-arrangement |
