San Luis and Rio Grande 2-6-0 No. 1744 has arrived in Alamosa, Colorado, with the La Veta passenger train on August 12, 2007. Surrounding the locomotive are some of SL&RG’s diesel fleet. Former LMX B39-8, now repainted (first done) on maroon and yellow as SLRG No. 8577 is on the left. To the right is former Amtrak F40PH No. 264, now numbered 459 and labeled a F40M-2F after being rebuilt. In the background on the right is another former LMX unit, No. 8542. The skies above Alamosa yard are still rumbling with thunder as storms move east into the San Luis Valley.
