Preparing the hook. With shop mechanics already in the process of making her ready, the operating crew of Nevada Northern Wrecking Crane A (lower left) huddles to discuss the plan for an afternoon steam-up and demonstration of their machine. This view is from the cab of the overhead shop crane, and while the word "hook" on the painted surface in the foreground is most appropriate for the main subject, it refers to the one dangling above, and not the wrecker below.
