Amtrak No. 3, the Southwest Chief, is looking a bit green on May 20, 1999. Apparently some power issues further east on the trip has required the assistance of a Burlington Northern coal motor; EMD SD60M No. 9276 to be exact. The train has just left Las Vegas, New Mexico, near Ojita at milepost 776 on the Raton Pass route. Besides the 9276, four Amtrak P42DCs play follow the leader “elephant-style,” with Nos. 33, 45, 5 and 8 all tagging along.
