Union Pacific 4-8-4 #844 storms upgrade through Erda on its way to Salt Lake City. This is the last stretch of upgrade on the LA&SL Route as it wraps around the Oquirrah Mountains. Soon the train will round the final curve above the Great Salt Lake, and join the Western Pacific for the straight shot into Salt Lake City, its destination for tonight. This train will spend the Thanksgiving holiday in SLC before heading East to its home base of Cheyenne, WY.
