| I spent a week in the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 1979 with one goal...get a few decent shots of the BN C636 fleet in action before it was to late. No such luck, the weather was fickle at best and every C636 I seen in action in good sun was trailing. I did get a couple in pretty poor conditions...wish I had stayed another week but when your 20 you never are known for perseverance. Anyway I was going back "next year so why worry", by Summer 1980...recession-Mount St. Helens blows its top-dust all over-BN Alco fleet parked for good in the Spring. Anyway in 79 I did capture a fair amount of "other" units running the BN Pacific Northwest rails. This eastbound screaming along at North Dalles was powered by 6565 and 6907 leading 52 cars...was I disappointed at the time? YES is an understatement, but the shot of 6565 looks pretty dang good 33 years later! |
