Constructed by the D&RGW in 1913, Snow Spreader 042 awaits a chance to push some snow at Helper Yard on a hot summer evening in 1986. The Rio Grande assembled the plow using a 1901 built Rio Grande Western flat car. By 1941 it was rebuilt utilizing a wrecked 40 ft. CB&Q automobile box car. After the UP and SP merged, it was donated to the Western Mining and Railroad Museum in Helper where it resides today.
