An eastbound Southern Pacific freight approaches Mojave, California, after traversing Tehachapi pass the morning of March 6, 1995. Lead locomotive No. 8690 is former Burlington Northern SD45 No. 6567 rebuilt by MK Rail into a SD40M-2 for SP not long before this photo was taken.
