| Unexpected
With the southbound Amtrak Crescent only 30 minutes away, a savvy dispatcher goes ahead and clears the ATN Z389 for movement over the Crescent’s path and allows for this pair of a classic former Southern Pacific SD45-2T tunnel motors, now designated as SD40-2T units after a rebuild, to lead the Z389 across the famous 32nd street interlocker instead of keeping the train waiting for hours on end as is usually the case for this low priority train. |
