Storm clouds part just in time to illuminate UP 4-8-4 #8444 on a westbound passenger special approaching Morgan, Utah. The Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal celebrated 50 years of service in May of 1989, and the UP sent the 8444 from Cheyenne to participate the festivities. The classic two tone gray passenger livery was applied to the 4-8-4 in August 1987 and would remain until it returned to the standard black freight paint scheme in 1996.
