Remarks & Notes
One of the Union Pacific Railroad's first diesel electric switch engines leads Deer Creek Scenic Railroad's Santa Claus Express, approaching the passing siding at Charleston, Utah. This beautifully restored NW2 was built by EMC for the UP in Oct. 1939. By July 1966 it was retired by the UP and sold to the Stockton Terminal & Eastern. By June 1969 it found work on the Western Pacific as the 607 and by May 1973 it would become the Sacramento Northern 607. After the UP-WP merger in Jan. 1983, it was retired by the UP (again!) and donated to the Deer Creek Scenic Railroad in May 1984. By February 1993 it was sold to the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City, Nevada.
