Remarks & Notes
Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad's 'Great Freight '79' performs a runby for photographers at the Highway 17 crossing east of Lobato, New Mexico. This photo freight was sponsored by Bill Peter of Peterbuilt Locomotive Works in Chama and was a real bargain even for 1979. The $25 fee got you multiple photo runbys between Chama and Cumbres with transportation provided via chartered buses along the route. The fee even included a sack lunch served at Cumbres. For authenticity, K-36 #484, (blt. by Baldwin in August 1925) was lettered Denver & Rio Grande Western for the occasion.
