I spent Memorial Day Weekend in 1990 soaking up the wonderfully historic mining district of Ely, Nevada. Nevada Northern Railway #40 was the star attraction of my weekend, pictured marching along through scenic Robinson Canyon along US Highway 50. This beautifully proportioned ten wheeler was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in July 1910 to haul passenger trains and continues to do so today between Ely, Ruth, and McGill for the White Pine Historical Railroad Foundation.
