Remarks & Notes
A very late running "Amatola" from Johannesburg is seen east of Providence siding (behind the trees in the middle distance), approaching the R715 road bridge. From Springfontein to East London (472 km / 293 miles) the line is electrified at 25kV AC and operated by Class 7E Co-Co locomotives. This one is painted in the purple Shosholoza Meyl livery and will take the train all the way to East London.
