| A newly rebuilt Amtrak Material Handling Car awaits a call to service at the Rio Grande depot in Salt Lake City. The MHCs worked systemwide in general service including bulk mail and baggage handling. Most of them were sidelined with problems regarding metal fatigue and were eventually restricted to speeds under 60 mph to prevent derailments. |
