An eastbound Union Pacific intermodal train rolls along the raging Feather River near Virgilia. Heavy rain has made the normally tranquil Feather River into a monster, and waterfalls were cascading down the mountainsides adding to the fury. Even though the conditions were obviously less than ideal, I'm glad I was able to catch a train in this mess. The next evening after this photo was taken, both the railroad and the adjacent highway were closed by rock slides and flooding.
