Remarks & Notes |
Santa Fe made a name for itself by running hot intermodal trains at high speeds from California to Illinois. Here we see one of these Z-trains (Z was Santa Fe's symbol for these high priority trains) snaking through the curves at Blue Cut in California's famed Cajon Pass. This train is less than 100 miles into its trip from Los Angeles to Chicago. The lead engine of the five locomotives on the train this August 29th, 1981, is GP50 3819. |
