Remarks & Notes
A pair of Southern Pacific Alco S4s await their turn with the scrapper's torch at Purdy Metals in Lake Point, Utah. A few months previous, both were employed at the Ogden switching yard, part of a series of 64 units acquired by the SP in the early 1950s. Note also in the foreground an SP flat car (minus its trucks) marked to 'Dismantle do not load Ogden 3.4.1977'. RIP!

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
