As a young driver dreaming about owning a new car, this Southern Pacific Auto-Pack captivated my attention. It featured a rainbow of shiny new 1978 Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Firebirds that had me dreaming of taking the high road to places unknown. Among the standard issue GM models are a Camaro Z-28, a Firebird Formula, and two black & gold Pontiac Trans Am Special Editions that were popularized in the movie 'Smokey and the Bandit' starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Jackie Gleason. When was the last time you saw a new car with a giant bird decal on the hood and a 'shaker' hood scoop? For better or worse, these are fond memories of growing up the 1970s.
