| Sandy's Aftermath: Raritan Central has the misfortune of being located adjacent to the Raritan River and Raritan Bay. The storm surge from Hurricane Sandy deposited a large amount of debris (including fish!) in their primary yard. Thankfully the railroad had planned ahead and most equipment was moved to higher ground for the duration of the storm. In the distance you can see several FedEx trailers which were moved a good distance and tossed in a marsh adjacent to the yard. Crews were on hand removing the debris and, like all other railroads in the area, Raritan Central will be working hard to restore service as soon as possible. |
