On a typically overcast San Francisco morning, MUNI car 1070 heads east along Steuart Street near the Ferry Building. This PCC streetcar, built by the St. Louis Car Co. in 1946, is painted in the 1950s livery it once wore for New Jersey Transit in Newark, including the unique red wheels nicknamed ‘Ruby Slippers’.
