Compromise When rails of two different sizes need to be joined, a compromise must be achieved - thus the compromise joint. This unique joint bar allows rail of different web thickness, height and head width to be joined together while keeping the gage side and running surfaces of the rail aligned. Today this type of joint is created by welding two different rail sizes together and thus eliminating the use of a compromise joint bar.
All those shots of interesting railroad details, what you see trackside, up close and personal! Excludes shots going into my other albums: "Engine Details," "Signal Details," and "Switchstand Shots."
