Remarks & Notes

Rio Grande train #142 ascends the 0.8% grade of the eastward main track along the Mapleton Bench east of Springville. The 142 was a daily tonnage freight that forwarded cars interchanged with the SP between Ogden, Utah and Pueblo, Colorado. These vast green fields of alfalfa are now filled with homes.
