Remarks & Notes

Soon after the Rio Grande Zephyr was discontinued in April 1983, the trio of F9s were assigned to haul ballast trains throughout the D&RGW system. Here the trio of beautiful F units and GP30 #3010 drag a heavy train of Midvale smelter slag east along the 0.8% of the eastward main track approaching Sutro, Utah.
