On July 19, 2011, we set up on a rocky cut at English, Alberta, for the westbound Canadian. As it got closer to when the passenger train was due, a rumble of an eastbound CN train could be heard toward Jasper. To the west, eastbound stack train No. 116, powered by a single GE was grinding up the grade, slowly swinging through the curves. As the stack slowly rumbles past at English, Alberta, train No. 1, the westbound Canadian silently appears around the distant curve. Oh well, we’ll have to get a shot of the Canadian here some other time . . .
