The town of Casper, Wyoming, as founded in 1888, but the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad did not begin serving Casper until 1905, arriving from the southeast. (A line from the northwest eventually connected in Casper, giving the town a through route.) Built by the CB&Q, this large brick passenger station is still in service by CB&Q’s second successor – BNSF Railway. However, it has been decades since this line saw regular passenger service, and the depot is now used for offices.
Oh the stories these special buildings could tell. Originally the brains of the rails they monitored, working to insure effecient rail service for our nation! A tribute!
