It was a spendid Summer day on August 4, 2012 along the Potomac River at Harpers Ferry, WV that just hours beforehand was overflowing not with water, but with people tubing, swimming and fishing along it's rapids. Now the days light is about to give way to darkness but not before CSX sends an autorack train east under the dramatic dusk sky. The bridge in the foreground is the old mainline bridge which now serves the former Winchester and Potomac/B&O now CSX line to Winchester. It also carries pedestrian traffic as part of the Appalachain Trailt to the base of Maryland Heights which looms behind the photographer.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
