Three "Canadians" NF 210 # 1418, 1424 and 1430, the first still in the former orange FCAB paint scheme, are pulling a tank car train north of Baquedano towards Calama. The locomotives were built by GMD for Canadian National Railways Newfoundland cape gauge lines in 1956/1960 and came to Chile between 1988 and 1994 (some via the Ferrocarril del Pacifico FCP in Nicaragua). # 1418 was the first in service for FCAB since may 1992. Now 18 of this type are running on 1 meter gauge for the FCAB, mainly between Antofagasta/Mejillones and Chuquicamata. Instead of their outside look, they are very similar to the GR12's of the FCAB.
The cross in the foreground is a typical memorial site for deceased people, mainly because of road traffic accidents.
