If you were a fan of Alco's, the Green Bay area was a good place to be in the early 80's. CNW had transferred the Huron Alco's east to work out the last of their years with ore service C628's. This added models RS3M, RS-11, RS-32, RS-36 and C425 to the area's 29 C628's. On this rainy Sept. morning RS-3 4250 works the yard while RS-32 4241 gathers up a local to head across town to do some industry work. The 4250 had been rebuilt by Alco with an RS-11 long hood and an 1800hp 251 engine after a wreck in late 1959. Added together with the GBW fleet, all these Alco's almost covered the models Alco produced in there last 20 years of production. Except for a couple of RSD models and the newest 6 axle Centuries.
This will be photos that were taken north of Green Bay on the C&NW ore lines. Mainly photos of ore trains will be in this album along with some manifest trains and switch jobs that worked the area.
