| Baldwin/EMD hybrid 1509 spends some downtime at the Escanaba roundhouse. The 6 axle Baldwins always seemed to be in need of mechanical attention and were generally kept close to the shop forces in Escanaba. No doubt the sight of these rough looking, oil oozing beasts made any FRA inspectors eyes light up like a 5 year old's on Christmas morning. This unit was re-powered by EMD in May 1960 and retired by CNW on February 17, 1981. |
