The three units on this southbound export coal train are not currently needed on the flat terrain between Anchorage and Portage but once south of Portage this train will need all seven units on line to climb Grandview and Divide Hills with grades in the 3% range. What a show.

Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
