The 'City of Savanna' is a daily reminder to the residents of Savanna, Illinois of their railroad heritage. A couple hundred yards back, this westbound double stack passed over the diamonds where the BNSF crosses the DM&E/CP east/west mainline out of Chicago, which used to belong to the Milwaukee Road. Savanna at one time had a good sized Milwaukee Road yard. This 1948 built passenger coach, MILW 541, 'City of Savanna', now serves as the Chamber of Commerce office for Savanna, and also houses a small museum.
