- First run of a high speed freight train. It was a test, a proof of concept for future international freight services on European high speed lines. The real thing, i.e. regular service, is set to start in 2017.
- First time also that a TGV travelled to London. It had to be hauled into St Pancras by 2 Eurotunnel diesel engines. However this is still a notable event.
This trainset is part of the French Post Office fleet of high speed trains. However the load today was true freight, not just mail and parcels.
- And first time that I have a picture shot with a cell phone accepted on RPN (I had never tried that before).
I was travelling on business. I did not have my camera with me. I found this TGV by chance when going back to Paris. So I took this picture with my cell phone. I was also harassed by a security agent who insisted that I get out of here. But I got that picture for all of you to enjoy!
