Remarks & Notes |
The CPR always seemed to be in a perpetual power shortage for as far back as I can remember. It was probably due to the harsh winter's and yearly avalanche of grain movements that seemed to chew through units. I'm sure the 80 unit fleet of big C-C M-liners with their associated issues contributed to some of the problems as much as they solved them. In any case as far back as the 60's(UP FA's) I remember foreign road units making there way into CP service. This shot of train 373 at Benny with CP 5733, 4722 and B&O 3723 typified power across the Northern Ontario corridor in the mid to late 80's. |
