27,000 HP under the Arch. That's a lot of horsepower. Two KCS SW1500s pull 7 ex-BN SD40-2s and 1 HLCX SD40-2 out of the deadline at the west end of the former GWWR yard in East St. Louis. Unfortunately, the KCS crew was just digging out a few centerbeams; no engines were reactivated and none went out on a train. The Burlington Northern painted units have been here for a few years now. The Gateway Arch rises above the scene on the left side of the image. |
