| Shadows and highlights. Late afternoon sun filters through the leafless brush and highlights the chocolate plume from D&RGW 478, as she drifts toward the Colorado Highway 250 crossing above Shalona Lake, with a 3-car passenger extra. The train is headed home to Durango after a very successful Day 1 of the 2011 Willow Creek Productions Winter Photo Charter. Charter Operator Dave Gross offered patrons the option to hop off the train in Rockwood to take advantage of any potential photo opportunities that might exist along the route back to Durango. I elected to exercise that option and indeed found some pretty light here in the woods, just a mile or so down the line. |
