The B&O CPL signals at Carothers stand tall as an eastbound coal train illuminates the fog as it has just exited Carothers Tunnel on the Magnolia Cutoff while a westbound train enters the block at Magnolia in this view taken around 2AM. This scene can no longer be captured as CSX has taken down the CPL and eliminated this location from the timetable.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
