Remarks & Notes
A gloomy January morning in 1987 finds Amtrak's eastbound California Zephyr making its regular station stop at Provo while the D&RGW passenger station is being dismantled. The 75 year old structure was taken down over a three month period by a gentleman who purchased it outright and hoped to resell anything of value. Eventually the stacked and palletized brick and roof tile were moved off site so that a small, unheated glass transit shelter could be built in the Rio Grande depot's place. Progress? Hmmm.

Oh the stories these special buildings could tell. Originally the brains of the rails they monitored, working to insure effecient rail service for our nation! A tribute!
