WC train 35 with 8939,6543,589,712 arrives at Trout Lake with 37 cars. Power for the Marquette local in the form of a pair of SDL39's waits in the distance for 35 to make a set out and then clear so they can go back to putting their train bound for Marquette back together. WC bought 40 Ex BN SD45's at start up and soon found that they had been well maintained and performed admirably for the WC's needs. After start up more power was required and WC purchased a few Ex SP SD45's, they were in rougher shape and after a rather short service life became hanger queens at North Fond du Lac supplying parts to keep the rest of the fleet operating. This shot has one of the Ex SP's leading, during one of its rare road appearances in Upper Michigan.
