DM&IR SD9's roamed the WC lines in Upper Michigan very often during WC's early years, sometimes leased and other times paying back hp hours from the steady flow of WC units onto the DM&IR that powered the many all-rail ore trains that WC was able to establish. Sure footed, well maintained, but not really good for high speeds the DM&IR's were a welcome addition to the WC's strained power fleet. DM&IR 170 leads WC 6532 and 60 cars eastbound at Nahma.
