Time Out- Snow falls lightly on WC's train 44, stopped in line trying to get to CSX's Barr Yard, in a very urban part of Chicago's west side. This scene has changed greatly in the past few years. The WC45's and B&O signals are gone. The dark empty void to the right was once the mighty Pennsy's 59th St Hump yard, which nature had reclaimed. Fear not, as A year later CSX built a state of the art TOFC ramp here with the break up of Conrail, and this area now hums with activity.. This shot was used in the WC Annual Report in 1997.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
