A Clinchfield tradition.. After departing Shelby, KY on the former C&O at 6:30 am this morning, CSX P913, the 2011 Clinchfield Santa Train has successfully arrived in downtown Kingsport. It seems to be an unofficial tradition for the engineer to be photographed each year behind the throttle of the lead locomotive. This year's train consisted of a recently rebuilt SD40-3 from CSX's Huntington Locomotive Shops, CSX's business class EMD F40PH No. 9992, and nine business cars.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
