Remarks & Notes |
For its unparalleled power, the Ae 8/14 11801 (built by the SLM in 1931) was known for many years as the most powerful electric locomotive in the world, and for its 246 tons heavy body it still remains the heaviest locomotive ever owned by the Swiss Federal Railways.
This is why it can be said that the Ae 8/14 11801 is the “Big Boy” of the Swiss Federal Railways. This locomotive class had the quite unusual wheel arrangement of (1A)A1A(A1)+(1A)A1A(A1). |
